The Mayan weren’t wiped out and loads of people still speak the language today. There was a collapse around the time of the Spanish invasion but I dont think anyone really agrees what the reason for this was. Perhaps overpopulation, a peasant revolt, or the collapse of key trade routes.

There are different theories but it could have been climate change, like an intense drought, or it could have been too much war or over-farming until the land could no longer produce the food to support them. But apparently there are still some people of mayan decent alive today so they were never actually completely wiped out!
