      Depends on the disability. If you’re paralysed in an accident for example, the cells, or more specifically the nerve cells that control them don’t work any more. In the case of cystic fibrosis, or Down’s syndrome, which are genetic conditions, you have mutations in one or more genes which mean they don’t work properly. If the genes are wrong, the cells won’t work properly either and will behave differently, normally for the worse.
