  I think we’re not all that far from being able to do it – there is a plan to send humans into low mars orbit leaving in 2017. But there are a few issues like how we would re supply it, and be able to survive there indefinitely. I think it would be a pretty boring life though, as you couldn’t just walk around outside!

  It’s quite far away, so getting people and stuff there to start a permanent colony would take a long time. I wouldn’t be keen to live there, it has none of the beautiful stuff we have on Earth and would make travelling home to see my mum very difficult!
