• Question: Does everyone see colours the same as me?

      This is one of my favourite things to think about! We know other animals see colour differently to us because of the way their eyes and nervous systems work. We also know that some people can’t see colours (they are colour blind). So it’s not impossible to think that people see colours a bit differently. The difficulty is how do we tell – whatever you recognise as green is probably the same as what I recognise as green because of the way we learn about colours, but is my green the same as your green? I don’t know, perhaps by looking at responses in the brain we might be able to tell if the same colours get the same responses from different people.
