Yes, during one experiment, we were videoing threespined sticklebacks in the wells at the bishop’s palace in wells. I was about to step into the inflatable boat we were using with the big heavy underwater camera and I slipped on a step covered in algae.. I wanted to save our expensive camera so I didn’t put my hands out and fell back and cut my head on the step! I had a pretty bad concussion for a few days and I’ve still got the scar!

Once while working at the barrier reef in Moorea during some quite intense waves I got pushed over by a wave and knocked into an urchin.. loads of spines went through my wetsuit.. people back at the research station started scaring me that they would have to cut my leg open to get the spines out other wise it would get all infected, but thankfully someone there knew that acid dissolves the calcium carbonate spines.. so we put lemon juice on and the spines all dissolved overnight!

      Too many to count!

I fell and got stuck up to my knees in mud in mangrove forests in Malaysia! It was so hard to get out because the mud was so thick! There were lots of tiny crabs and mudskipper fish all around, I think they must have thought I looked very silly! I wasn’t hurt though which was good.

Also in Malaysia we were taking some measurements and identifying animals in a cave system. It was pitch black and you could hear the thousands of bats flying around your head. Under the light of my little red torch I saw huge cave racer snakes and centipedes as big as a guinea pig with really long legs! Inside the caves was very slippy and I slipped and landed in a big pile of bat poop! Not my most glamourous moment!
