• Question: Is it OK if i call you by your first name, or should I call you by surename?

      Hello Joe!

      You can call me Hayley. Most people I know in science are very relaxed – even our professors and those who are Dr’s usually insist we use their first names! My supervisor hates being called Dr Bernard!

      Yes call me Sophie! People only call me by my surname when talking in a posh voice and trying to be funny, actually I only have one friend who does this and his name’s Gandhi..

      Please, call me Ed. People calling me Mr Bovill, Sir, or even Edward feels too formal!
