I’m sure this is the sort of question that science can really answer – it’s more to do with ethics and morals. Science can tell you that many animals eat each other and that humans have eaten animals throughout their evolutionary history. Science can also tell you that you could live a healthy life by not eating animals. However none of this tells you whether it’s the right thing to do, I think that’s something you have to choose for yourself. Now I only eat animals that have been raised in a free range environment for example, but when I was younger I was a vegetarian.

This is more of a philosophical question which can boil down to personal choice. Generally speaking the different types of science we have today (biology, physics,…) were all originally mixed together under philosophy until someone came along and showed how to observe and measure the things of interest. In philosophy you can just do “thought experiments”. I suppose you could start with “what is right and wrong?” and then apply this to eating animal.
