  I think my favorite thing about my job is the places I get to go and the people I get to meet. Since I’ve been doing my PhD I’ve been all around South Africa doing field work, teaching students and talking at conferences. We have many different cultures here so I have learnt a lot about how people have different perspectives about things like climate change.
  
  I’ve also been to a few international meetings and workshops – I got to visit the European Space Agency in Italy (they even had a rocket there – my inner nerd was very excited!!) and Zanzibar – where I helped students learn how to use ocean colour data to look at corals reefs.
