      The heat would be a major problem trying to get to the centre of the Earth. Even at only 3.6km deep in one of the deepest mines in the world (it’s in South Africa, where I live!) the temperature already reaches 55 degrees. The Earths radius (how far to the centre) is about 6,731km, and down there is a lot of hot and molten rock, the temperature is more than 5000 degrees!!!

      I also think you’d probably have trouble getting air down there all the way from the surface, and creating materials to build a mine that could withstand that temperature and pressure.
